This group covers Japanese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, Indian and other Asian cuisines that are not Chinese, and the etiquette varies by kitchen. Japanese and Korean restaurants often take reservations for dinner and may add a service charge for large groups; Thai and Vietnamese spots are usually walk-in and quick-turnover. Spice levels are frequently adjustable on request at Thai, Indian and Sichuan-adjacent menus, so say if you want it mild or hot. Korean BBQ restaurants typically charge per person for all-you-can-eat service with a time limit, and grills are shared at the table. Vietnamese pho shops post bowl sizes (regular or large) and a plate of herbs, bean sprouts and lime is normal to add yourself. Card and tap-to-pay are widely accepted; cash-only is more common at small family-run counters.

Charlotte is in North Carolina, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. Getting around Charlotte is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across North Carolina's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Tried the Chennai kalyana biryani and boti fry at Madurai Thattukadai. Biryani had good flavor with a crispy sevai topping, paired well with the raita and side gravy. Boti fry was well roasted with nice curry leaf aroma, though a bit dry. Solid, fairly authentic Tamil street food β€” worth a try if you're in Charlotte, and fair portions for the price.

Good biryani, but a mixed experience The Dindigul chicken biryani was definitely good and probably the highlight of the visit. I also tried the Boti Fry, but unfortunately, it lacked flavour and was quite underwhelming. It’s a self-service restaurant, so don’t expect a traditional sit-down dining experience. Overall, it’s worth trying once if you’re curious, especially for the biryani, but I wouldn’t say it’s a must-visit.

Amazing authentic South Indian food. Dishes are amazing. Perfectly done, everything is fresh and cooked well. Spice usage is great. Most of the items are made from scratch. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The restaurant interior is spacious and well done. Cleanliness is top notch. Great place, worth the 2 hr drive from our stay πŸ˜‰

My husband and I came here during soft opening on April 23rd for dinner service. A limited menu was available at that time. Food: + My husband had the chicken curry and said the flavor was great. I had the shrimp masala and the portion was ample and the flavor was excellent. My shrimp came with a flaky bread which was too oily but tasted decent. - The chicken curry was 4 oz of curry and had 2 tiny pieces of chicken. The chicken curry came with what I assume was minute rice. Indian food should come with basmati rice in my opinion. Food was served in plastic containers for the most part which was disappointing. Service: + We came during soft opening and the lady at the register was helpful in making suggestions from the limited menu. Service was fast. - You have to fetch your own napkins and plastic utensils like you are at McDonalds. The food does not arrive all at once which I think is bad service. Atmosphere: - You order at a counter and sit down like you are at a fast food chain. The lighting is awful. The music is far too loud at 83 decibels, so much so that we had difficulty understanding anything the staff was saying. Other remarks: - Health rating not posted on the wall.
